Seacoast United is proud to announce its Junior Academy skill development program curriculum, specifically created to encompass many of the technical and tactical aspects of the game of soccer. Below are the topics that will be covered during this program.
Your child will be taught how to manipulate the ball with different surfaces of their feet to get past opponents, in addition to being shown how to protect the ball using their body.
Different techniques will be demonstrated of how to pass a soccer ball as well as the appropriate pace/weight to put on a pass depending on where they would like the ball to go. Players will learn how to receive a ball when it is played to them, giving them the best chance of success once the ball is in their possession.
The art of putting the ball in the goal will be worked on; whether one is facing the goal, or have their back to it. Knowing whether you need to use power over placement when trying to score goals is very important!
There are many different aspects of playing in a soccer game. During this program, your child will learn about spacing as a team/individual with and without possession of the ball. They will also be taught about movement to create space for themselves when their team is in possession.
The SUSC Junior Academy program is the beginning of the pathway for future Seacoast United Soccer Club players. It is directly linked to our Soccer Club's Player Development structure and much of the success of SUSC youth club teams can be attributed to the fact that the majority of our current players are graduates of the SUSC development programs.
It is our hope that those involved in our Junior Academy program will continue to learn and enjoy playing as they move through the levels of SUSC's developmental pyramid of soccer playing opportunities.
