Seacoast United MA South sent 25 teams and almost 350 young players to participate in the Columbus Day Invitational. Players, coaches and families hailing from the South Shore and Boston region got to enjoy the beautiful fall weather and were able to spend time, both on and off the field, taking in all of the sights across New Hampshire.
Achieving incredible success, MA South had 7 finalists and 4 eventual Champions. The 07 Boys Elite, coached by Martin Doherty, led the way by winning the Premiership Bracket. "The boys got to play in four outstanding games and although a little nervous, we found a way to beat a very good Rhode Island Surf Team in the final", stated Doherty.
Other Champions' included the 07 MA Girls Elite, who overcame SUSC NH DPL Girls, 2-0. Two teams from the south shore celebrated victories, the 08 Boys, along with the 09 Boys, Pre-Elite. The finalists were rounded out by the 2010 Boston Girls Elite, who competed in the Premiership Bracket, 2009 Boston Girls Elite and the 2008 South Shore Girls Premier.
Technical Director, Rob Jones was beaming when he said, "Every one of our teams did us proud. To have 7 teams progress to the finals and 4 eventual champions shows how far our club has come in a short space of time. More importantly, our players and families represented the club extremely well.” Jones went on to say, “Huge thanks goes out to Chris Scott and the entire tournament team for putting on such a competitive, safe and fun event for all of the players"
All MA South teams will get back to their regular schedule next week, including our 09 Boys, who will represent the club in the Boys Pre-Academy League. Keep following Seacoast United Massachusetts on social media for the most up to date club news.
