On Friday, February 16, Seacoast United Benfica had two teams embark on a trip to Athens, Greece. A combined 2004/2003 girls team and combined 2005/2004/2003 boys team headed across the pond for a chance to play some soccer and see some history.
As part of the trip, the teams were scheduled to play against the Academy teams of powerhouse Division I AEK, PANATHINAIKOS and ATROMITOS FC as well as the strong Academies COUROS FC and ATHINAIKI ENOSI. Traveling with the teams are parents and siblings, with 70 people in total representing Seacoast Benfica in Greece. The group is staying at the London Hotel in Glyfada.
Adding to the soccer playing experience will be attending a professional game between AEK and XANTHI, as well as cultural events with visits to the Parthenon, Acropolis museum, Filoppapou hill, Sounio, Epidavros, Mycenae and Nafplion.
