Seacoast United Mass South is one of the newest regions to join the organization and in a short space of time, the program’s coaches and players are having a real impact not only in the Boston and South Shore region, but across New England.
Several MA South players have been recognized of late for their efforts off of the field but the latest accolade is actually for one of the coaches on the touchline, Martin Doherty. Martin, who coaches the 2007 Mass Elite Boys in the Elite Development Program (EDP) National League, has been nominated for Boys Coach of the Year as a part of the Fall 2020 End of Season awards. The team finished top of the New England Conference and are currently ranked number one in Massachusetts for their age group.
Director of Operations Rob Jones had this to say about Martin and his team, “Martin is a wonderful role model to the boys, a coach who challenges his players and they are the key to the success.” Jones went on to say, “They get their leadership from him but the effort, determination and play the boys produce over a consistent basis is how they have achieved such quality results.”
"I'm delighted to be nominated and recognized in what was a great season not only for our team, but for Seacoast United MA South,” said Martin when asked about the nomination. “The Fall was a season like no other however all the players continued to put in the work at every practice and game. They handled the challenges that were thrown their way and it shows how much these young men have developed, both on and off the field.”
